The ADHPL Project is located at a distance of 60 kms from Bhuntar airport. It is 500 km away from Delhi by road. The project utilises water from the Hamtal and Pataori Himalayan streams, which form the Allain river, and from the the Chandar Tal glacier-fed Duhangan river. Water will be transferred from separate intakes and underground headrace tunnels into a common intermediate reservoir before being discharged through a steel/concrete lined pressure shaft into the underground powerhouse at Prini village which is located near Manali town. Power will be transmitted to the national grid connection point located at Nalagarh via a high voltage line to be built by the company.

The ADHPL will help meet the shortage of power in the Northern region of India, presently estimated at some 1500 MW. The plant will be operated as a peaking plant from November to May and as a base load plant during the summer and rainy season from June to October. During the peaking season, the plant is expected to operate about 4 hours per day.

An MOU for power purchase has been signed with one of the northern state utilities
Ready to commence implementation of project as soon as PPA is signed with one of the northern utilities and techno-economic clearance is obtained

The project is being completed within a period of 4.5 years. June, 2009 is set as a target for commercial operation. Construction work will be carried out based on several separate contracts for civil work and one contract for major electromechanical works.

Project has received  the necessary clearance  from various departments and Ministries like the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
